Erik Marquardsen - 1949

Trained as a cabinet maker and awarded a Bronze Medal on completion of his appenticeship in 1970. Graduated the Danish School for Arts Crafts and Design in 1974.

Between 1974 - 1975 Erik Marquardsen received a grant from (SACD) to research into lamination technology.

Takashi Okamura 1949 -

Graduated in 1971 with a degree in Industrial Design from the Kuwasawa Design Institute, Tokyo and in 1974 from the Furniture Departement SACD.

O.M. Design 1973 -

In 1973 Erik Marquardsen and Takashi Okamura opened their own design studio O&M Design. The studio won the Furnituremakers Association's prize in 1974. "Møbelprisen ".

The backgrounds of the two principals seek to combine the traditions of craftsmanship of the Danish furniture industry with the design philosophy and indusrtial techniques adopted by the Japanese.

This collaboration has resulted in the work of the partnership gaining acceptance both within Scandinavia and on a broader export front.

Getama Aktieselskab have produced furniture by O.M. Design since 1986.
